    Urgent (Same Day) Appointments

    Please inform the receptionist if you feel you need to be seen urgently and we will try to accommodate you.

    For urgent appointments and home visits you may not be able to see the doctor of your choice.

    Extended Primary Care Services

    Moss Street Surgery is one of a number of local GP Practices associated with Cannock Clinical Alliance, which is based in the GP Suite Surgery on Level 2 of Cannock Hospital. This Surgery is currently open from 6:30pm to 8pm open during the week and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday mornings providing an Extended Access service, see our opening times page for further information.

    The Clinical Alliance is staffed by doctors, nurses and Reception staff who also work in one of the local Practices. 

    Monday to Friday

    When all of our weekday appointments are fully booked, the Network appointments can be offered by our Reception staff after 1:00pm each day to our patients.

    Saturday and Sunday

    In addition, pre-bookable appointments are also available in the Cannock Chase Clinical Alliance at Cannock Hospital. If, for example, work commitments make it difficult for you to come to Moss Street Surgery during the week, you can call us any time on Mondays to Fridays to pre-book your appointment or telephone 111 (Out of Hours Call Centre) on Saturdays and Sunday mornings.

    General Information

    When calling to make your appointment

    For a morning Surgery appointment, telephone after 8.00am and a Receptionist will be able to arrange a convenient time for you to attend. If you would like an afternoon or evening surgery appointment, please telephone the Surgery after 11:00am.

    Booking Appointments in Advance

    It is also possible to book appointments in advance. A number of appointments are available on Tuesday to Friday for morning and early afternoon surgeries unless one of the doctors is away. Please note that emergencies take priority at all times.

    On arriving at our Surgery and once inside the waiting room, patients can 'book' themselves in automatically, find out more here.

    Telephone Advice & Consultations

    Telephone Advice

    Telephone Advice may include queries about a prescription, a test result, a hospital appointment, a referral, a form that needs to be completed or advice about a minor ailment. Please call and ask the receptionist who will be able to help you.

    Telephone Consultations with your Doctor

    If you only need advice from the doctor or nurse you can book a telephone consultation by calling the Surgery. The doctor will call you back and discuss your problem at an allotted time. Please make sure you give the correct phone number to the receptionist.

    Telephone appointments are only available during surgery hours.

    Advice is also available from the NHS 111 service by calling 111 from your landline or mobile phone.

    If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

    Cancelling an Appointment

    If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

    We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.

    As part of our commitment to all our patients we monitor the efficient use of appointments. If a patient regularly fails to attend a booked appointment, the practice reserves the right to remove them and their family from the practice list.
